Thought some of you might find this kind of cool. JPL is doing a Rose Parade float.
For everyone who's not familiar with this event, the Rose Parade is a long-standing New Year's Day tradition here in Los Angeles, preceding the national college football (US-type) championship game, the Rose Bowl. One interesting characteristic of the floats is that they have to be made mostly of flowers and/or vegetable materials, and JPL made some pretty amazing things for theirs, which celebrates 50 years of UMSF... http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/news/news.cfm?release=2007-153 -------------------- A few will take this knowledge and use this power of a dream realized as a force for change, an impetus for further discovery to make less ancient dreams real.

Without the rocket sitting atop its flame plume, my first
guess was that JPL was featuring an Io volcano on its float. |
