I'm surprised not one seems to be getting excited about the images from Laguna Hollow. It looks for all the world like a salt pan - complete with some sort of polygonal pattern. Has anyone heard of any anhydrous explanations for those features?

Thanks for the follow up to my post. I'm such a newbie I didn't even know about space.com.

That new image of the trench is interesting. The sediment beneath the surface looks pretty dry. If that is some sort of evaporite deposit on the surface, the water must be long gone.
