...the Atacama desert would rank right up there in Terran Marscapes; picture taken near Altamira, Chile on 14 March 2001 (sorry for the dusty lens)... An absolute desert in the rainshadow of two mountain ranges, when we camped here there was no life evident, not an insect, bird, or lichen... An eerie total silence reigned...
