I have prepared a fairly detailed outlook on the upcoming eclipse as well as other planetary observing in August as a neat PDF file with diagrams. It was originally a podcast, but now I have decided to make it available for reading and viewing as well. Since this is my first publication of this kind, I would highly appreciate your comments and suggestions:

On http://spaceweather.com/index.php (August 18) there's a very nice demonstration (photo) how eclipses work.
