Gloriously clear evening here in Devon - just got back after watching Venus emerge from behind the moon.

Fantastic view from here in Kendal... watched it from Kendal Castle, shivering in temperatures of minus OMG degrees whilst giving a running commentary over my mobile for local BBC radio... a beautiful sight with the planets and Moon hanging above the battlements of the ruined castle, and when Venus emerged from behind the Moon, through my 4.5" 'scope Venus looked so bright it was as if a nuclear bomb had gone off on the lunar limb...
I've been an amateur astronomer for over three decades, and this was definitely one of the coolest things I've EVER seen...! Pretty crude "stick the camera against the eyepiece and see what comes out" pics... -------------------- |
