Hey...

Anyone here have anything (know anything, wonder anything, speculate anything) on the newly reaffirmed JDEM?

Obviously the DOE/NASA jointness is back (see http://jdem.gsfc.nasa.gov/) but what I find interesting is over in the "Comments" section of the official page (http://jdem.gsfc.nasa.gov/comments.html).

It looks like not only are the three competitors going away, but that a single facility spacecraft and instrument are taking the place. It seems like this facility craft is trying to be all-things to all-people -- incorporating SN Ia observations, lensing, and BAO measurements in one craft. Ambitious...

I know this forum seems to focus on the interplanetary missions, but with more details on JDEM expected soon, I thought it would be interesting to start a place for discussion. Any thoughts out there?

Cheers,

--Nick
