It's summer here in Canberra, the DSN antennas glistening in the sunshine.
For Goldstone it's another matter - snow in the desert! http://cid-db6720af30958f51.skydrive.live....03464.jpg?ref=2 Astro0 |

It's nasty everywhere out West today. I'm heading off in the dark for a 4-hour drive to Susanville, and there's heaps of snow up there. Do the driving route on Google from Sacramento. I'm going to need a stiff drink when I get there.

You do realize that this is balmy summer weather compared to Meridiani and Gusev, do you? And we don't ever put up the chains on the rovers either! Actually, Paolo, here in Minneapolis it's been significantly colder overall over the past couple of days than it is during midsummer at Meridiani. Overnight lows have been only a few degrees warmer than Martian midsummer, and daytime highs significantly colder. -the other Doug -------------------- “The trouble ain't that there is too many fools, but that the lightning ain't distributed right.” -Mark Twain
