Computer OSes and spacecraft...

Just curious. Do you have any idea what kind of OSes are used aboard spacecraft? I mean, do you know the software specifics of MRO, MERs, etc?

Don't tell RMS, but I doubt there'd be much of the GNU part of things on any spacecraft running embedded Linux.

I know, I know, but I said on the spacecraft. wink.gif

Who can resist tweaking GNU a little? -- God forbid you had to run GCC or emacs on those embedded processors!

Yes, that's right... Why, you haven't lived 'til you've run "emerge world" on an NSLU2 NetSlug! (yes, I'm kidding of course, but uplinking source and running `configure && make && make install` on a live s/c would be beyond cool wink.gif )
