Last week we had a mostly-Cassini Enceladus workshop in Leicester, UK, hosted by Nikolai Brilliantov of the University of Leicester. We invited Doug to join us, which he did- nice to meet the man himself in the flesh, finally! Here he is, showing off a sundial on campus to Andy Ingersoll from the Cassini ISS team (left) and Mark Perry from the INMS team (right).

Thank you for the invite, and kudos to the workshop attendees for letting me sit in for a few hours. It was fascinating to see the scientific process in action, and a very commendable mix of openness to each others ideas, and responsibility in getting the science right.
I work only half a mile down the road from that building, and had been there a few times for meetings and seminars etc, but never when the sun was shining, so I wanted to see if this calendar-sundial was working (and it was!) |

I wanted to see if this calendar-sundial was working (and it was!) Yes, I've heard that solar-powered devices often have difficulties in the UK... Sounds like good times, glad you guys got together. -------------------- A few will take this knowledge and use this power of a dream realized as a force for change, an impetus for further discovery to make less ancient dreams real.
