Not much seems to have happened in 40 years - I can't even see any graffiti or empty crisp packets...
Very nice comparison images Ian |

Great comparison indeed! Could one generate a 3-D view from those two shots?

Apollo 17 Station 6, the big broken boulder 'Split Rock'. Previous images of it were illuminated from the other side, but here we can see the footprints down the east side where the images of the rock faces were taken. The image number is in the filename.

Wow, that's a great image of Tracy's rock. Even looks like similar lighting conditions when Gene and Jack stopped at Station 6. Thanks Phil for uploading!
From the same image, a crop of the landing site, north being (roughly) up. North of the descent stage, at approximately three descent stage diameters distance, a dark "horizontally" stretched spot can be seen. Looks pretty much at the right distance for the flag. Shadow cast, or the remains of the flag? Who knows. Anyway, these images have a gorgeous resolution. |

I came across this video of LRO shots of the Apollo 12 site, including many that I had not seen before. Some are listed as being at 0.1 meter/pixel. Very impressive!

Nice video, but
Actually, scratch that, it clearly states meters per pixel for the resampled images. -------------------- |

QUOTE Actually, scratch that, it clearly states meters per pixel for the resampled images. but i have worked with enough imaging data that that 0.125 and 0.1 m/px looks like it is a upscale resampled nice video however |

Yeah, I didn't feel it was necessary to specifically state that.

The Apollo lunar Module ascent stages have been difficult to find in LROC images.
Here I show a candidate for the Apollo 17 LMAS. It was supposed to hit on the slope of South Massif facing the landing site. This point is on top of the massif. No guarantees! but I will be comparing the spot with Apollo images to see if it shows up. Phil -------------------- ... because the Solar System ain't gonna map itself.

These must have been fairly grazing impacts. Presumably you check that the "splatter" matches the known orbital path?

Yes, it does match reasonably well, just as my earlier SMART-1 candidate had a N-S orientation to match its orbit.
