i was wondering if anyone here has a list of proposed crater names , besides the two already named ones
they do not have to be "official"

i would like to add them to my Deimos add on . see the video

I can't answer your question, but your animation is beautiful. Really amazing lighting effects on Deimos!

I'm not aware of any 'name bank' of approved but unassigned names. I did make a proposal for names on both Phobos and Deimos, put forward on my behalf by Jurgen Blunck, but it was not approved. Like the names Phobos and Deimos themselves, the names were associated with the Trojan War.

He's making a reference to one of my projects, which also has some lighting effects - although in my case its using MOLA data, whereas I don't know where you'd get the data to illuminate Deimos that well. It's a nice job.

There's no Deimos shape data that good. This is what you call 'augmented reality'. But it is beautiful.

Why would they reject it if they didn't accept another?

Brad Smith doesn't like naming things unless there's a pressing need like a planned mission. He was in charge of that committee.

true it is an edited/enhanced shape data i used
for the interested have a look at the celestia forum page
"celestia add on's / deimos "
http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15333
and a youtube WITHOUT the texture map
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7A4RaaOzho
also the celestia matters page for Phobos - i used the same process
http://forum.celestialmatters.org/viewtopic.php?t=323

the 3d blender model is based on " m2deimos.tab "
with A BUNCH of editing
Artistic - yes - accurate ??? yes and no , a close approx.
-- for the crater names --
i will add you to the "thanks" part in the README file
i was going to put in just the orig data was from the m2deimos.tab and page url
and the texture from- the same place
but for place names you will have full credit for it .

That does allow more time for folks to die.

(That comment would be more sardonic if they weren't leaning towards crater Cronkite.)
