Hey all - these have been available online for a while now - views of the two new 34-metre antennas that are being constructed at the Canberra DSN.
With the completion of the works on the 70-metre antenna in Goldstone, California, I thought it timely to mention other works underway with the Network. Currently there are several cameras watching the holes being dug for the two Beam Wave Guide style, 34-metre antennas that will come online in Canberra between 2014-16. Here's Cam 1 - with a view looking toward the hole being dug for the pedestal for Deep Space Station 35 (DSS35). Here's Cam 2 - with a wider view and you can see in the midfield on the right work beginning on the roadworks for DSS36. In the background is one of the current antennas DSS45. The cameras update once a minute and operate Mon-Fri during local daylight hours (so there a static image at night and weekends). Enjoy watching these antennas growing up out of the ground over the next few years. |
