I have been working on a small program to calculate some interesting Cassini flyby parameters using SPICE kernels I downloaded. What follows is a list of the closest approach distances, times and phase angles for most of the major satellites for the T3 and E4 flybys. I plan to spruce up my program to produce output as HTML tables and then to post (or upload to my website) the results for the entire tour sometime in the next several days/weeks.
I cannot completely guarantee that my program is free of bugs so there might be errors in the following list - I consider this rather unlikely though. T3 flyby Saturn 2005-Feb-17 00:57:30.000 Center range=210916 km Phase angle=115.3 Mimas 2005-Feb-17 00:42:00.000 Center range=332784 km Phase angle=137.0 Enceladus 2005-Feb-17 03:30:30.000 Center range=1423 km Phase angle=114.7 Tethys 2005-Feb-17 05:37:15.000 Center range=163807 km Phase angle=106.3 Dione 2005-Feb-17 07:27:00.000 Center range=256114 km Phase angle=119.6 Rhea 2005-Feb-17 05:05:30.000 Center range=280724 km Phase angle=44.2 Titan 2005-Feb-15 06:58:00.000 Center range=4152 km Phase angle=99.0 E4 flyby Saturn 2005-Mar-09 11:39:30.000 Center range=211244 km Phase angle=114.8 Mimas 2005-Mar-09 12:02:15.000 Center range=371003 km Phase angle=100.6 Enceladus 2005-Mar-09 09:08:00.000 Center range=747 km Phase angle=43.4 Tethys 2005-Mar-09 11:44:00.000 Center range=83423 km Phase angle=63.3 Dione 2005-Mar-09 05:52:00.000 Center range=355522 km Phase angle=107.3 Rhea 2005-Mar-09 04:25:30.000 Center range=595351 km Phase angle=92.4 Titan 2005-Mar-09 12:05:15.000 Center range=1006116 km Phase angle=61.0 |
