Good afternoon, I’m Byron Jones and this is the Flight Director report for Wednesday February 16th.
On Spirit today they’ve been taking a pause in their trek up the Columbia Hills towards Larry’s Lookout to do some IDD work on the disturbed soil. They’re also gonna do some more remote sensing there. Once they’re up there, they’ll be able to get some spectacular panoramas of the surrounding valleys. On Opportunity, on the other side of Mars, we completed a flight-software upload to a new flight-software patch last weekend. Yesterday was the first drive on the new flight-software for Opportunity and pending a good result, we will continue to drive south crater-hopping to new and exciting scientific areas. And that’s what’s happening on Mars today. |
