Did anyone else manage to see the aurora last night? Several big solar flares triggered quite a geomagnetic storm, triggering auroral displays that were seen across the whole of the UK and, I believe, elsewhere. Through gaps in the cloud I caught a glimpse of the display here in Kendal...

There was a very brief display of purple rays half an hour before that pic was taken at around midnight, but I wasn't set up to photograph it then. Just glad I managed to catch something. smile.gif

Nice!!!!

Saw some great ones in Alaska back in the early 2000s, but the problem there is that you don't get dark skies in the summer. Froze my butt off watching them, but it was totally worth it!
