You can see the rotation of Deimos? I don't think that is the case because Deimos is tidally locked.

Agreed. I think you're seeing JPEG noise.

was there a consensus as to whether the dark blotch just below the centre of the sun is a sunspot? it looks pretty convincing from these images.

If another reporter asks "when will we get to Glenelg" I'm going to scream! Yup! And it was a little depressing that many of the reporters from the major networks just wanted to hear about malfunctions right after EDL. They were practically begging for bad news. Some reporters ask dodgy questions but some ask really good questions. I know that it is going to be an informed question when I hear that it is Emily Lakdawalla or Irene Klotz from Reuters. Nadia Drake from Science News and Joe Palca from NPR also ask good questions. Leo Enright from Irish TV and Emily ask the most entertaining questions. |

It has been put off for a few weeks so I have to believe that something important has happened Your options basically are 'SAM may or may not have detected methane'. Isn't that fairly obvious? If some startling revelation were found, they would have a press conference about it when they were confident in the results. If there were something up with SAM they would ( as with REMS ) let us know. No news isn't bad news or good news. |

So, after Huygens, that's the second time we landed in a stream/river or whatever it was.
