An animated GIF of the C2 imagery showing a definite comet-like structure following ISON's orbital path can be found here. It appears to be rapidly brightening.

Excellent animation. Sky and Telescope first said nothing emerged in the C2 images, now they say the "barest trace". Will they have to backtrack more?

The object looks even brighter in the C2 21:24 image than it did in the 20:24 image.

Hmm ... a new tail should probably point away from the sun I would think (as in lovejoy).

If it's traveling faster than the solar wind the tail would trail, then eventually the tail will lead.

Its a shame SDO didn't appear to initially capture anything, hopefully there will be renewed vigour by their imaging guys to eke something out, now the snuffed out candle appears to have at least partially re-ignited itself.

Looking at this animation courtesy of spaceweather (updated real-time), I thought it was a dead stream of debris. But is there a hint of brightening just now?

It looks like Karl Battams is backtracking on his pronouncement that ISON is dead:

Sungrazer Comets @SungrazerComets 5m

That rocky/dusty remnant of comet #ISON seems like it's getting a tad brighter... So, umm... did I mention that comets are like cats??

C3 image from 0007UTC: https://twitter.com/CometISONnews/status/40...4330112/photo/1

Distance from sun is .033AU. Phase angle is 108 degrees. I wonder if it looks more condensed because it is hooking more in the Earth's direction now?
