Vikingmars, you really nailed it!
The colours, the mood, I know this is an overly used comment but really..for a split second.. I could have been there. P.S. I think I may have a new desktop. |

OK, I have just set the sol 580 image from Vikingmars as my desktop, it's like looking out of the most amazing office window ever.

Vikingmars,
You’re the champ – yr sol 580 pic went straight to my 21” desktop screen, absolutely stunning. I tried Led Zeppelin but like to recommend Glenn Gould’s Goldberg Variations as my favorite to go with this scenery. Cognizant about the noise – content ratio, let me hasten to add a bit of news: the BBC has just published a most fascinating news item about an article lead-authored by Dr Edwin Kite pointing to a thin, dry climate during ancient times on Mars: http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-27039711 Will this help Dr Grotzinger (read his guest-blog about Habitability and Taphonomy) in narrowing down science targets? |

Thanks so much to both of you, NotLurkingAnymore & Harder : Led Zeppelin I like it a lot. But to contemplate loooong-lasting evenings on Mars, I really prefer Glenn Gould's "Variations", especially with the new style he introduced to play Bach on his piano ! Please, have also a try with Symphony #7 from Beethoven, especially the 1st movement... You'll tell me ! Cheers ! |

@Vikingmars, @Harder
I hear what you are saying but this panorama is so dramatic. The crater wall, the foot hills of Mount Sharp (close enough to touch), the dune fields and the foreground!!! It demands a powerful, in your face, where we are, how we got here and where we are going optimistic sound-track. I humbly stand by my opinion that only Led Zeppelin can do justice to to what we see. I also humbly suggest that dramatic floods may well have had something, an inconceivable long time ago. to do with the terrain in this panorama. Hence 'When the levee breaks' . I stand to be corrected |
