It seems to me that there is a similarity between these two moons. Have any spectral comparisons been done? Granted, the imaged portion of Umbriel only has a few bright streaks, but it has a similar visible effect. Bright areas on Umbriel seem to only be dug up by craters. Is it possible that this is a moon that got a thicker coat of the stuff that is on one side of Iapetus?
I have added a page on Umbriel to my site with some commentary and a montage of the five best Voyager image sets of this moon. Perhaps New Horizons 2, if it flies can tell us more...the Voyager coverage is quite poor. http://pages.preferred.com/%7Etedstryk/umbriel.html
