Hi all,

just discovered NASA's top secret additional X-filter files for the hazcam.
So now I can do full color Hazcam-pictures wink.gif
nah, just kidding of course...

Just like to share my latest colorizing project:
this remarkable view with the Eyes of Spirit creeping
up the Hill...
(thank god this did not become the good-bye-roving image for Spirit:
seems that we got free of the sand-trap again !)

follow the link to full resolution image (high-quality JPG, 400 KB)

detail view of wheel in the sand:

hope, not too red this time wink.gif

Great job, Nirgal!

As someone who is red-green colorblind (color deficient, as they call it more politically-correctly), I wouldn't have the slightest idea how to go about colorizing the images. I cannot easily distinguish between colors that contain red or green. For example, purple and blue frequently look the same to me, as do some greens and browns. I have red hair; if I hold up a piece of grass next to my hair and look at the sun through them, they both look the same color! When I'm picking colored text for web pages, I have to get my wife to tell me which color goes with what and I can only replicate the same colors by memorizing their positions on the color palettes. It's very frustrating!

The NASA Mars images are so monochromatic to my eye -- and dark -- that I see even less detail than I do with the black and white images. Nirgal, your colorizing brings out accents that I am able to see very clearly, and it is very striking! Thanks for greatly enhancing my enjoyment of color from Mars!
