Gradually climbing higher on the rising terrain toward the SSW, using official mosaics from Sols 3821 and 3843.
Longer steppable drive animation with a combination of official and Jan's mosaics from Sol 3435 to the present. -------------------- Steve [ my home page and planetary maps page ]

Looking the the HazCam thumbnails from the short drive on Sol 3849, it appears that the rover repositioned itself a little further back and left of its location on Sol 3846. There is some churning of the regolith by the front wheel in this image, so it looks like the driving remains challenging. I guess it is possible that they were repositioning for some contact science during the coming days.

Here is Jan's panorama for sol 2853 in circular form. I didn't have time to do the intermediate ones. Let's hope the next place they try will give access to the next level, but this may be what happens on several of the next steps as well. This new level should provide access to the Gediz Vallis Ridge.
