From a Planetary Society update :
Junichiro Kawaguchi, the mission's project manager, told The Planetary Society by email this weekend that Hayabusa will still go for two touch-and-go but initial Nov. 12 and 25 dates may change. Minerva would be released during one of these descents. http://planetary.org/news/2005/1108_Hayabu...ouping_for.html Rakhir |

QUOTE In addition, the attitude control with usual and the jet by losing the reaction wheel, is executed, but you could not avoid the fact that the disturbance of big translational acceleration of the variation which originates in that is received, it was verified that the tracked dispersion which accompanies this has reached to the very big quantity. Concerning this, it was found that it is necessary with just for the on board autonomous function which has been supposed in advance as for evading to be difficult, to introduce the assistance from the ground anew. I think this means that they need to update their software to deal with unanticipated consequences of using the thrusters to make up for the lost gyros. -------------------- If Occam had heard my theory, things would be very different now.

Yikes - what a translation... But I am intrigued to learn that Itokawa has a red light district.

Did they miss the planetoid with the target marker?

and feel as if I had done some wrong, and it is hard to forget the ugly circumstance. I see that such intercourse long continued would make one thoroughly prosaic, hard, and coarse. But the longest intercourse with Nature, though in her rudest moods, does not thus harden and make coarse. A hard, sensible man whom we liken to a rock is indeed much harder than a rock. From hard, coarse, insensible men with whom I have no sympathy, I go to commune with the rocks, whose hearts are comparatively soft." - Henry David Thoreau, November 15, 1853 |

QUOTE (Phil Stooke @ Nov 10 2005, 12:56 PM) I especially like the disclaimer about proprietary data at the bottom: QUOTE We report, the sweat of the researcher who engages to leading space science and the raw voice which is full in the tear and the joy. It doesn't participate in the venture which chases the puzzle of outer space? I guess there is still a need for human translators -------------------- --O'Dave
