I hope they wait a bit before they give it a last try. I suspect it will fail. However, recall the fact that Minerva is supposed to pass Itokawa on the 25th, and may serendipitously land. If it does, even if it is out of contact, it would be interesting to look around for it. Otherwise, it might end up on the surface without us ever knowing!

I predict that not only will they successfully grab a sample and return it unharmed to Earth, but that Minerva will land on the asteroid intact and transmit useful data while roaming around and poking things.
