Sexual exploitation goes to Mars!
http://planetary.org/news/2005/mer-update_0602.html :

"All things considered -- and with no AAA truck and wench on hand -- two feet is
progress, and Squyres told The Planetary Society yesterday that he remains
confident the rover will be back out cruising the plains at some point in coming weeks."

So tell me: why wouldn't a MALE AAA truck driver do just as well?

There are no 'R's, but you can throw out the 'e' and replace it with an 'i'.

You can keep the winch *and* the wrench if I can have the other thing.

Whoohoo! More hard data.

With two similar threads going, I never know where is the best place to post the latest progress efficiency graph. Sorry about that, but it's this thread's turn. tongue.gif

Steve's June 2 update with info on the two 20 meter attempts was pretty encouraging, but the June 3 MER update provided the detail, and it's looking good.

http://marsrovers.jpl.nasa.gov/mission/sta...tml#opportunity

The average progress efficiency for all attempted drives has jumped up to 0.0055, and the daily trend has clearly broken upward. This is a good sign. The following is an updated plot of the ratio of distance gained / distance attempted, for each sol.

YEEHAAAAWW!!!!!!!

The tracks in the rear hazcam look like oppy got close to 100% traction in the end. I suspected that they would get out pretty quick when on the last sol the front wheels were almost on solid ground, but this was faster than I thought. I wonder what was the set drive distance.

Excellent stuff MER team!

I just gave the celebratory trowel it's last coat of gold - I hope to get a little plaque made tomorrow morning, then mount it tomorrow night and hopefully send it off on Monday smile.gif
