NASA TV is doing interviews with MER scientists on May 5 starting at 3pm EST USA time. The topic is the Dust Devils seen by Spirit. This is the first rover interview or news of any kind shown on their TV station since the 1-year anniversary show in January. Finally, we get to hear their thoughts on the Dust Devils and hopefully on the other discoveries since then.

QUOTE (marsman @ May 4 2005, 10:04 PM) NASA TV is doing interviews with MER scientists on May 5 starting at 3pm EST USA time. The topic is the Dust Devils seen by Spirit. This is the first rover interview or news of any kind shown on their TV station since the 1-year anniversary show in January. These are one-way media interviews. You can only hear one side of the conversation. I have tried listening to those broadcasts myself, but they don't make much sense. They are talking to news people, and NASA/JPL wants a public record of what NASA/JPL actually said. That would be my guess about what they are doing. This JPL webcast looks interesting, and they should archive it. May 19 and 20 Von Karman lecture series: Planetary Geology on Mars http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/events/index.cfm Also Steve Squyres may be talking at New Orleans The really good news is that we now have emerging the first true stratigraphy that we've seen in the Columbia Hills... I'm hoping to be able to report on it at the American Geophysical Union meeting that's coming up in New Orleans in a few weeks. http://athena1.cornell.edu/news/mubss/ Jack |
