I have the Hotwheel Pathfinder model - and bored one lunchtime, I thought it needed some work. The heatshield is white plastic - but I knew that was wrong - so I went in to the kitchen and...

I made a model of Pathfinder shortly after it landed, it's nearly 7 years old now and a bit dusty. I made it based on pictures of the lander in Sky & Telescope and Astronomy Now magazines.

Did anyone see that smaller model they had of the MER rovers at a few of the early press briefings? Would love one of those biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

That's very cute - I have Pathfinder blueprints on my wall ( ebay ) and I made a Card Delta II rocket a while back -

And of course, there's the rest of the pathfinder toy stuff - which is always a bit of fun biggrin.gif I think the scale might be a bit off though biggrin.gif

Piccies...

Superb self-made models if You ask me ...
Code 3 model offered a superb MER model at the end of 2003, but those are soldout nowadays!
Realspace models has a superb Viking Orbiter & Lander scale model at US $ 150.00:

I'm having Gumby flashbacks!

The images got me thinking: Would it be useful and practical to drop a whole bunch of little rovers all over Mars? Rather than pray in the future that a few big huge ones make it and work?
