What will we do if a real discovery of alien life is made and announced
on April 1?

God help the NASA press officer that decides it would be a good idea to release that kind of news on April 1st.

Somewhere, I have on reel-to-reel audiotape ...
(I could find it in 2 minutes but DOING somethign with it is non-trivial) ...
a recording of Darn Rather intoning something very close to a direct quote "You may not believe this, but there COULD be life on Mars".
It's the evening news announcement of the press release and maybe briefing on the remarkably strong reactions observed to the first soil sample in the Viking 1 lander's biology experiment.

Difficult question! What would you do if you see an UFO on 1st April?

It is obvious that this article is a joke for USMF members who are well knowledeged about the space reality but, I doubt that any non-member, any novel or common citizen will be intriged of that. Then, it is most advisable to remove it in order to keep the seriousness of this forum.
April 1 is not of our fool day unless it is on Dec 28.

"serious" stands for the scientific content, not for the members themselves

Americans would also recognize that the name of the reporter, Kent Brockman, is the local TV anchorman on "The Simpsons".

Is 'The Simpsons' an American show? Damn, I liked it, too. Next you'll say that 'Futurama' is as well...

Uh oh... the 1 meter hovering object just zipped over in front of Spirit and was last seen entering the right front wheel area... it hasn't been seen since.

now if it could only teach Spirit how to hover, our problems would be solved
