Looks like we released the April-September 2005 MOC data (cycles S05-S10) this morning -- http://www.msss.com/moc_gallery/index.html

Not meaning to take any of the glory away from HiRISE, but does anyone know if there is an imminent release of MOC images for S11 - S16? These large image blocks usually come in April and October, but I haven't heard anything. New images are new images, and I've been spoiled by the regularly spaced deluges!

Suggests that Oct 13th was the date for the MOC release.

Thanks for the link, Doug. The calendar now lists November 6 as the next MOC release date.

Can anyone tell me where can I find the coordinates for this specific image?
From here

Oh yes...I'm cooking something... rolleyes.gif

The information is here
http://www.msss.com/mars_images/moc/public...01993_01994.tab

But the table description which should be here : http://www.msss.com/mars_images/moc/public...mndescript.html seems to be locked away somewhere.

HOWEVER

it's cached here

Don't know the coordinates, but I recognize that as the very well-known Ustrax Planum region. The circular feature at the bottom of the image is Djellison crater. Do a Google search in Portugese and you'll find it. It's on the third and last page. biggrin.gif

Anyone know if it's released already ?
I could not find the MOC gallery update on the MSSS site ...
djellison
Well - the update was pushed and pushed to Nov 27th....today is the first day at which the date is later than the published data release date.....but I still see nothing new.

With MGS dead, maybe they want to release the remaining images all in one go. blink.gif
monitorlizard
I'm wondering if there may have been a workforce reduction at Malin Space Systems when the latest MGS mission extension was funded. It's not all that unusual to reduce funding for a new mission extension, ostensibly because of operating efficiencies developed during previous mission extensions. Just a guess, though. It would have been unrelated to the probable loss of MGS.

I also noticed that there have been no new MRO context camera (also MSSS) images released since October 16.

It also may be that the scramble to recover the spacecraft, especially in the first weeks of November, as well as the first regular operations of CTX and MARCI, took a lot of the manpower away from preparing the release.
djellison
I thought that - but then why would engineering activity affect the release of previously taken science data. The last one owas May 11th, so the next should have been Nov 11th really. And CTX/MARCI data taking again, shouldn't really have got in the way of this new release either as the processing and release of thata up until conjunction would have been funded with the previous extension.

I don't mind it being late - but it's frustrating to see the PDS Imaging node report one date, then push it, then push it again, then we sail right past it without the data. I would rather they stuffed the release date out to mid Decmeber and release it when they say they will.

I am not sure of the answer to this, but it lies in whether or not it is the same people doing both types of work. If it is, it is easy to see how they might be pulled away. If not, it doesn't answer the mystery.
OWW
What's up at msss? It's been over two months and no new CTX imagery released? Maybe because of the gully/crater release last week? blink.gif

The data was delivered to PDS on schedule and has been on the PDS website for quite some time. Did you try looking there? Note the volumes for S11-S16 at the bottom of the page.

The MOC Gallery update has been delayed, but so, it seems, has the USGS web access. You should note that the Gallery has always been a pro bono effort. I don't know what the status of the USGS pages is.

Thanks! It's there.
