Heads up - the latest issue of S&T arrived today with Jim Bell's article about MER stargazing on the cover cool.gif

(Sorry if this has been mentioned before - I've been quite busy lately and have been having trouble keeping up on all things UMSF)

Er....don't read it, Doug...It's...er...not all that interesting....I mean...you've heard it all before...that is...look, just don't read it...trust me....O.K. There's a sentence in there you'd rather not read...I mean...well, it mentions dust...er...devils. It's probably just a typo...I wouldn't take it seriously. Doug? Doug? ...speak to me. Does anyone know CPR? Is there a doctor in the forum? huh.gif Call 911!

If you ever wondered what it would be like to stand on Mars and view the night
sky, two robots have beat you wheels down.

Thanks for that link. The Phobos-Deimos-Aldebaran time lapse image is beautiful, showing Phobos overtaking and Deimos lagging behind the stellar background. Too bad my GCSE Astronomy class is over for this year, they'd have loved it.

These two pages cover most of the 'astronomy' observations...

That pic of Deimos and Phobos sitting on the horizon above the Mars landscape is my favorite... one of those special pictures that really makes you feel like you're there. Like that panorama from on top of the hill, or the movies of the dust devils. Nice.

That one jumped out at me too. But given ElkGroveDan's post a while back about the MER Team jury still being out as to the nature of the cleaning events, I figured it may be a clue as to which side of the fence Jim is on.

I thought the article was very well written - my only complaint was that it was way too short smile.gif

Doug: your copy is in the mail...

Sweet - thanks for that smile.gif
