Hi, this is Beth Dewell for the Mars Exploration Rover report for Friday September 3rd 2004.
On Opportunity it’s currently sol 218 in the morning. Our suite sol 217 activities completed successfully, including a complex IDD sequence. This included retracting the APXS and moving to a target named ‘Otto Dix’ where we performed a RAT-brushing and then took microscopic images. We also moved back to the target we were at yesterday, ‘EmilNolde’, for more science activities.
On Spirit it’s currently sol 238 in the evening. We just received our data from that sol. The plan on that sol was to drive to a target named ‘Tikal’. This is about a nine meter drive and the reasons for being at this orientation was to be in a good spot for solar conjuntion which will be happening very soon.
And that’s what’s happening on Mars today.
