Hello, this is Beth Dewell for the Mars Exploration Rover Flight Director report for Friday September 24th 2004.
On Spirit we’re currently on 259 at the beginning of the day. On sol 258 was our last day of conjunction operation. We withdrew from the Mossbauer and the filter magnet and then we took images. There’s still dirt on the filter in the Mossbauer which is really interesting. We also took 24 images over the target ‘Greeneye’. Our plan for the next sol is actually to prepare a three sol plan which is our first time doing so. This’ll include taking a long integration on disturbed soil as well as backing up to take wind effect images.
On the other side of the planet on Opportunity, today is sol 238 in the middle of the afternoon. On sol 237 we performed more IDD work on the target named ‘Auk’ including a PanCam geofilter and a PanCam of the target ‘Ellesmere’. On sol 238 the plan is to complete a Mossbauer on ‘Auk’ and also to bump half a meter down to ‘Ellesmere’ so it will be in the IDD workvolume as well.
And that’s what’s happening on Mars today.
