Good morning, this is Byron Jones with the Flight Director report for the Mars Exploration Rovers. It’s Tuesday February 8th.

On Spirit, they’ve spent the last hundred sols or so working their way up the Columbia Hills. Right now, they’re about 20 meters short of the Cumberland Ridge and they hope to get there in the next few days. Once they get up there, they’ll have some spectacular panoramas taken of the surrounding valley.

On Opportunity, the other side of Mars, they’ve been heading south for the last week or so and have stopped for a few days to take a look at a trench that they dug. They’ll continue their work there for the next few days before they continue south, crater-hopping for new and exciting scientific areas.

And that’s the Flight Director report for today.
