I just saw the new movie, "The Tree of Life." Without giving away too much, there is a flashback that literally goes back to the formation of the Solar System. One scene has some beautiful shots of Saturn, which I recognized as based on the Cassini images. I noticed in the credits that the Cassini images were credited to our distinguished friend, Gordan Ugarkovic!
Congratulations on being on the big screen with Brad Pitt and Sean Penn! Well, maybe not with them, but in the same film!

It was a very interesting movie. It's really hard to explain it. I had no idea what I was in for when my wife suggested we go. Apparently, several members of the audience also were unable to fathom what was going on, as they left about 20 minutes into the movie. I've seen this movie described as the first movie since "2001: A Space Odyssey" which tries to tackle the mystery of human existence in the cosmos.
If you grew up as a boy in the 1950's or 60's in rural/suburban America, you will recognize a lot of your childhood. If you enjoy classical music, the soundtrack has some of the most effective use of classical music since "2001," although you're unlikely to hear any of the pieces on popular radio! As a UMSF denizen, you'll love the images of the formation of the Solar System and the beginning and end of the Earth. Without being religious, the film also has a strong spiritual undercurrent in the questioning of life and death - and as questions only, no answers.
And if you ever wanted to see a plesiosaur on the beach at sunset...
The movie has its flaws, but I do look at it in the same terms as "2001," as an experience.

An hard movie, intriguing short sequences and slow, common life situations, without immediate connection... I must admit my fault, at the end I was a little tired, so I forgot to look at credits and I missed Cassini/Ugordan names! Congratulations also from me!!!
