4th rock from the sun
Hi,

I've put on my page (My Webpagewww.astrosurf.com/nunes/) severall images from the Mariner 10, Phobos 2 and Viking missions processed from the original raw data.

I'm very happy with the results from the Viking data and the way they compare with the recent MER rover imagery.

For your convenience here are more direct links:

Hope you like them!

Excellent work. I haven't seen Viking shots like that! The sunrise is awesome.
I thought it was interesting what you did with the Phobos 2 images, processing them to bring out detail and color variations. I have usually gone the opposite route, trying to recreate natural color.

Keep up the great work!

Thank you for your kind words!
You do have some great images on your page, congratulations.
Yes, I've processed the Phobos images to remove all off the CCD smearing (using the IRIS sofware), and that tends to enhance small scale details. There was no point in duplicating your work, off course.
I've tried the same processing in Mars 5 images and it works fine. When I have the time I'll finish them and upload them to my page.

Nice to see the Viking color images collected on your page. Back when I was in college, I spent 8 months working at JPL, largely on early versions of the Viking Lander Hi-res black&white mosaics. These are pretty good resolution at .04 degrees per pixel compared with .12 degree for most color panoramas. I have some links to more final versions of these mosaics assembled on a web page at this URL:
