Considering all the issues the probe/rover have had, I'm impressed that it's coming back to Earth and I look forward to seeing what they find.

QUOTE (Canman @ Jun 4 2010, 11:15 PM) *
News from Woomera via a freind.
The news paper from Roxby Downs and from Coober Pedy carried advertisments stating that the road between Glendambo and Coober Pedy will be closed. Glendambo is south east just out Woomera Prohibited Area (WPA) and Coober Pedy is north of WPA.
It states "A 60 kilometre section of the Stuart Highway will be closed by SAPOL (South Australian Police) from 10PM to midnight on the 13th of June 2010. The sourthern roadblock will be located 60 Km north of Glendambo and the northern roadblock will be located approximately 120 Kilometers south of Coober Pedy."
So things are happening on the ground and in space. Can't wait! biggrin.gif

ABC News (the Australian ABC) just carried the same announcement. I have google-mapped the road blocks, see it here.

Okay, so if I did that right that's 13 Jun 1200-1400 GMT?

Hope there's some TV coverage. Haven't heard if NASA TV here in the US is gonna do anything; might have to rely on the good graces of CNN International.

It seems that JAXA relays the control room situation when the explorer returns.
http://www.isas.jaxa.jp/j/topics/topics/2010/0526.shtml
JAXA recruits the entrepreneur who delivers "HAYABUSA" control room relay image.
(June 13th, 1800-2400 JST(13 Jun 0900-1500 UT, movie only, no voice. )

When HAYABUSA touch down on ITOKAWA asteroids, JAXA offered the control room image movie.
And as you know, when landing, JAXA passed on information with HAYABUSA-blog by Japanese and English.
http://www.isas.jaxa.jp/home/hayabusa-live...10&blogid=6

I think these two sources is useful getting realtime information for retun of HAYABUSA.

"NIKO-NIKO DOUGA" broadcast the return of HAYABUSA.

Are there any plans to send Hayabusa's mother ship anywhere else in the Solar System after it has delivered its payload to Earth? I guess that a Stardust style extended mission would be possible if Hayasbusa has significant remaining Xenon reserves?

I think it will enter the atmosphere right after the capsule. Both are basically on the same powerless trajectory.

We know there are plants on Mars, but NASA screwed that up and landed their landers only in the deserts.

Come on people. We keep getting these same questions over and over. It's a good idea in this forum to go back a couple of pages when you have a question. Unless it's a brand new topic, the question has usually been answered.

In this case Hayabusa will burn up and the reasons why were articulated previously.

Apparently. All we can hope for now is little or no further entanglements...
