I thought this was rather cool - the two Gusev images in the new HiRISE website - and the old girl moved for us smile.gif

Thanks for that, Doug. The images make a good stereo pair, and with Spirit's horizontal movement between the frames, it looks as though Spirit took a huge leap into the air for the camera: blink.gif laugh.gif

Seriously, it would be really nice to have stereo images of Spirit's neighbourhood.

And *controlled* null-grav maneuvers, at that! If you didn't notice, she not only moved laterally about two or three meters, she rotated clockwise 90 degrees. (At least, it seems so to my old, tired eyes...)

Actually, it looks like she rolled sideways, crab fashion. The
two shots must have been taken when Spirit was in it's post drive
orientation, not while it was still aimed in the drive direction.

Wow, what resolution!

Well, if HIRISE can't find Beagle, or Mars, or any of the other lost spacecraft littering the Martian landscape, I suppose nobody can. That's as good as aerial reconnaissance.
