Here's a map of the last activities at Pahrump Hills, just as we are getting ready to leave.
And an overview of the last six months or so (white squares are the in situ (arm) science stops): Phil -------------------- ... because the Solar System ain't gonna map itself.

A quick update to sol 923. The position should be quite good, the path is not certain yet. It wasn't a long drive - about 15 m (I'll get the scale on here soon, but don't have time to do more until after LPSC!)

Off she goes indeed! Another drive on sol 924, just a short one here. I moved the Garden City location but I'm still guessing where it really is.

We moved on sol 940, far enough to be able to look around the corner into the next leg of the valley. The path is conjectural at the moment (but based on Hazcam images).

Wrapping up our time in this area, here's a summary of the past six months or so at Pahrump Hills and a look ahead at the complicated terrain we will be crossing soon.

Sol 950 - a very nice drive. We are almost out of the narrow valley (Artist's Drive - named after a place in Death Valley, as are most of the names around here), and about to enter a broader lowland area. Soon we will cross into a new map quadrangle (Arlee, named after a place in Montana, I think), so there will be a new naming scheme soon. The actual path of this drive is conjectural so far.

OK, we are at the entrance to - whatever this place will be called. There's a rather spectacular outcrop to the south, curving along the edge of the depression.

A very rough location map today - I'll fix it when back in my office. The location is with respect to Navcam images and should be pretty good, correcting an offset in Joe's map.

Now that we are on the road again, it could be helpful to see the route to Murray Buttes. Going back through the thread I found Emily's link to this map.
I'm sure there are better and more recent maps with more details. Looking at ANT103's panorama for today, I really can't figure out our likely path ahead. -------------------- |
