During the first quarter of 2023 Curiosity continued to explore the Marker Band Valley, succeeding at last to obtain a drill sample.
It is now rejoining the Mount Sharp ascent route.

Here is a visualization of Curiosity's travels on the first quarter of 2023. In all images North is at the top.

The path for sols 3699 to 3785 (January 1st to March 31st, 2023):

The above in a wider context (since sol 2632, January 1st, 2020):

Here is also another side project I've been busy with for some time. I always wanted to see Curiosity's traverse in relation to USGS style geologic map.
As I could not find anything online so I proceeded to create one myself. It is is still not finished (there are tons of small pools of sand to draw),
but it is possible to get the rough idea how Curiosity is roving through successive geologic layers on the her way up the Gediz Valley.

Sol 3803 map update. The grey rock is now called Ile Portal according to the latest mission update.
I marked it on the map, although with its small size it is at the very limit of the HiRise image resolution.

Attached Image

The new information also allows me to identify butte Alto Alegre on the map as it was imaged from both sol 3702 and 3803 locations.
